Back in Arnhem!

Goedemorgen Everyone!!

Well this week was a good one for us! On Tuesday we left from Deventer and went back to Arnhem! It was really nice to get back there! We were super tired because it was after District Meeting, but we got out and visited some people that day! On Wednesday was probably the hottest day of my life in the mission.. We were dying.. but we carried on with our water bottles!

We had the opportunity to go and help an investigator with her daughter's birthday party, so we went and helped her move a couple of things and we had the opporutnity to teach her friend that was there about the Book of Mormon! It was super cool, she was super open about everything, we taught her the Restoration in a small amount of time, but it was super cool! She had to hurry and leave and we didn't get the chance to get her information, but hopefully Monica can give that to us to see if she has further interest! Well we ended up also teaching Monica about the Big 3(Prayer, Church, and Scriptures) she said she has been super stressed and hasn't been able to feel peace and rest and we explained to her that through these things we can become more happier, because we have recieved it ourselves! It was super cool! We then prayed with her and all the kids at the birthday party!

We had another lesson with Semmie this week, and it was a good lesson, she is super busy and stressed with all of her kids and she recently had to go to the hospital because she had kidney stones.. so that was hard and painful for her. So we went over saturday and read in the Book of Mormon with her and she was a lot more happier and less stressed! It was nice to see her be happier and give her a little boost for this week!

I hope you all had a great week, this next week should a good one for us! I am excited to see how the work will be here in Arnhem! I love you all and I will talk to you soon!

Dutch Healthcare is terrible....

Goedemorgen everyone! Well unfortunately this weeks email is going to be short because of a couple things, one because I am emailing on an iPad, two I don't have too much to talk about, but I have some things good about this week! Well first off the Dutch healthcare is terrible.... We took elder Williams to the ER and they turned us away and told us we didn't qualify for the ER.. So I was furious! We then went to a doctor the next day and elder Williams apparently has a viral infection that is affecting his body in weird was such as inflammation in parts of his body and a rash around his body, so president told us to go stay with the Deventer senior couple for a couple days, so that is where we are. Elder Williams is doing a lot better and is almost ready to start working again.

I have had the chance to work with the Deventer elders for the past couple of days, we had a cool experience on Saturday, we taught one of our investigators in Arnhem named Sammie, she has 4 kids and is alone so she is going through a tough time with everything and we had a lesson with her and it was super cool to see how willing she is to follow what God wants for her, we talked about baptism and how she wants to prepare for it and make that promise with our Heavenly Father, it was a really spiritual lesson and really eye opener!

And besides that we have been planning for our week and district meeting so it has been good! And that is about it for us for this week, we hope We will be back in Arnhem soon! I love you all, talk to you soon!

Transfer calls and year mark!

Goedemorgen everybody!! Well another solid week in the mission field! We had transfer calls this week, and I will unfortuantely be leaving Hengelo and going to the city of Arnhem. My new companion will be Elder Williams, he actually is in my MTC group! So I get another companion from my MTC group! We will also be serving as District Leaders together, and we will be over the same District I am in now! So yeah that will be really cool and a new thing to participate in! I am excited to Always go and serve somewhere else, so we will see what the Lord will have in hand for us! I also hit my year mark from home this past week! crazy how fast it flies by, like Elder Croft and I joked around and said "Okay this year we will take seriously!" haha that is joke!

Well Elder Miera and I had a couple of really cool little miracles this past week, on one day Elder Miera and I were going knocking doors and we came across a really nice lady, and we taught her the restoration on the door and gave her a Book of Mormon, we then later that day found another dude who let us up into his apartment and we shared the Restoration with him also, they both took it well, they weren't too interested in going further about learning more, but just the feeling of planting some seeds and showing people the joy we recieve from our belief, means a lot to some people to see that, so we had a really cool day that day! and the guy almost let us play his PS4, but of course we had to refuse..

So this Friday I had the opporutnity to go on exchanges with Elder Croft on our year mark, we both were talking and thought that it was no coincidence that we had the chance to spend it together and have a great time, a year ago we were companions in the MTC and we got the chance to see our growth and have a fun day! We had the opportunity to play some basketball with some Dutch kids that night, needless to say I am still sore and still a very rusty basketball player! but it is cool to see us making a difference being an example to these kids!

My time here in Hengelo has been great, I think it has been one of my most growing period cities so far, I have learned a whole lot and have had the opportunity to get close with the Ward and enjoying the little miracles here and there that I have seen! This next Transfer will be a cool one! I love you all and hope you have a great week! Love Elder Morey! "We are infinitely more than our limitations or our afflictions." - Jeffery R. Holland

Happy 4TH OF JULY! LONG LIVE AMERICA!!

Goedemiddag everyone! and especially Happy 4th of July to everyone back home!! I hope you eat a bunch of food and enjoy the fireworks! Well this week was a fun one for Elder Miera and I, we got the chance yesterday to get some water poured on us and almost get into a fight with a dutch man! So It gets exciting!

Okay so a little about our week, we had a little bit of a slower week, but we did ge the opportunity to teach some new people, one of which was Yolanda. We had found her at the first of the Transfer, the appointments just always seemed to fall through.. but one day she called us and we set up a new appointment, so we went and taught her about the Restoration. It went really great, she had many questions and was open to what we had to teach, we hopefully will get the chance to come back and see how she is progressing with the Book of Mormon!

We also taught our investigator Mathijs again, we went over the Plan of Salvation again with him and made sure that everything made sense with him, he is amazing at listening with the spirit, he just needs to recognize it. We have a return appointment with him, he did say that he thinks that this will be the last time we meet with him, but I hope not!

Well Friday was a great day for Elder Miera and I, we went to a certain area in Hengelo that we thought would be a good area to contact and find someone, well on the very first bell up we did, we met this super nice mom and her little daughter, we taught her about the Book of Mormon and we will get the opporutnity to return and tell her about the Restoration! I love how the Lord puts us in the right places at the right time, it blows my mind everytime! Later that night I had the chance to go play basketball with a less active and needless to say.. I am out of shape and not a good ball player anymore.. haha but we will play with him and his friends every Friday night!

On Saturday we had our Ward Party/ BBQ! It turned out being an amazing activity for the whole ward, we had the opportunity to talk with some  people and show them around the church and we ended up teaching some really cool guys that were syrian orthodox. Elder Miera got to use his spanish and talk to some spanish people! SO these ward activites work! They are great just to get to know more people and have a great time!
That was our week in a nutshell, I hope you all have a great week and I will talk to you all soon! Love you all!

Traveling Can Get The Worst Out Of Me...

Goedemorgen everyone!! Well this week was a crazy one for Elder Miera and I.. We had a big traveling schedule that is for sure, we had to go to Zone Conference in Rotterdam this past week, which took us 2 1/2 hours to get there.. But I will first start off by telling you why traveling can bring the worst out of me.. and it is kind of a funny story.. I am still figuring out what God was trying to teach me. Well as you all know I need a residency Permit  to stay in the country and my last one said I was born in 1977, which I was not, so I had to go pick up my new one. Which is located next to Schipol Airport. SO we get on a train from Hengelo to Schipol at 7 in the morning. We get to a city called Amersfoort and the train conductor comes on the intercom to say that the train wasn't going to Schipol.. SO we got on another train to Utrecht, to catch one to schipol from there.. so we get on that train at Utrecht and the conductor once again says sorry this train is not going to Schipol.. So we get off in Amsterdam and take a train to Leiden, and from Leiden we finally get to Schipol and I finally got to Hoofdorp. I got my residency permit within 10 minutes... So we traveled for about 6 hours to get this thing.. Elder Morey was very upset to say the least.. I hope you all got a laugh out of that...

This Wednesday Elder Miera and I had the opportunity to teach a Potential Investigator and her Brother about the Restoration, it turned more into a question answer appointment, but it was still a good one, we tied the restoration into it and tried our best to have a good lesson. By the end of the lesson we had commited them to Read and Pray about the Book Of Mormon. The brother declined and said he was still going to believe what he believed, but what he did say and what was the great miracle of this lesson is that the brother said, "well guys your belief is great and I can tell that you are great people and have had great experiences. You have taught me to pray again and I will for sure begin praying again to recieve comfort and faith." Even though they didn't want to have a return appointment, I knew that we made a great impression and that they felt the Spirit!

We also had the opportunity to teach our investigator Mathijs! We taught  and talked about the Plan of Salvation. He thought it was great, he is a man of very simple thinking and he said that it made sense to him and he thought that it was great! It is great to see the Spirit testify of truth! He is making great progress, hopefully he will come to church soon!

We had a solid week for sure, hopefully this next week will be an even better one! I love you all and will talk to you all soon! Tot Ziens! "Remember who you are, and what God expects you to become." - Thomas S. Monson

HUMP DAY... FIJNE VADER DAG!

Goedemiddag everyone!! Well Happy Father's Day to my Dad and also to all of those Father's that have an impact on my life! You mean the world to me! and yes.. it is my hump day.. this time next year I will be home.. it is crazy to think about, that I have been out for a year! But most importantly I still have time and work to go! This week was another awesome week for us in Hengelo! President Bunnell had challenged Elder Miera and I to get a 25 hour work week, so we took his challenge to the test!

A little about our week, we had a lot of potential investigators that we had found the previous week and we were going to go look them up and teach them, but some of them happened to be not home. For instance we went to a dorp called Rijssen and we had a facebook campaign referall, she ended up not having that much interest at all.. So we had another look up I wanted to do, because I saw these people had a utah drivers lisence plate hanging on there patio, so I went up to ask them why they were there, but a lady answered the day and she was just there daughter in law. So I struck a conversation with her about what we do and where I was from and then I asked if she heard of us before, she said no. So we then intorduced the Book of mormon and now have her information to go teach her! But wait it gets better, the next door we knock is this super nice Dutch lady that is Christian(which you never see, at least the nice part). She invited us into her home and we talked about religion and about our belief, we left her with a message and a Book of Mormon! and we are allowed to come back and teach her about the Restoration! SUPER COOL!!

Another cool little story, Elder Miera speaks fluent spanish. So we have been getting our spanish language going a little bit, the sisters in Enschede are teaching some people from Dominican Republic. They don't speak Spanish at all and Elder Miera and I had the opportunity to go help teach them and it was super cool to see that my Spanish isn't that bad still! It is crazy how the Lord places you in the right places and right times!

It's awesome being able to see the Lord's hand in the work! It makes things a lot more easier and happier! Just got to go out and have the faith and the lord will help do the rest! I love what I get to do on my mission! I hope you all have a great week! I will talk to you all soon! Tot ziens! Love you all! Hard Work Goes A Long Way!

Goedemorgen Everyone!! Well this week in Hengelo was one for the books! We had a super good week, as a Zone we were all challenged to get new investigators! So the Lord provided for Elder Miera and I! We ended up teaching 6 lessons this week and also getting 5 new investigators! Pretty dang amazing!

First I want to talk about one of our investigators Kai, I believe  I have talked about him a little before, but he is a guy from Russia and he loves us! Everytime we go over to his place, we are just his homies. So he called us up out of the blue and said that he had time to meet with us, so that in itself was a miracle! We then got our stuff together and went over to his house, we taught him mainly about the Plan of Salvation and answered his questions! It went really well and he is excited to come to church next week!

Elder Miera and I had the chance to teach a lot of people on the door and also be let in this week. We ended up finding a lot of new people this way, it is crazy to think how the Lord will put you in the right places at the right time. We were doing a look up one day and the people weren't home, so we decided to go knock around for a little while. The very first door we knock is a nice Catholic lady and we ended up having a great conversation with her and now have a return appointment! also we were lead to this one part of hengelo that I thought was a good place to knock, and we knocked a whole apartment complex and we ended up getting to the last bell up/ door. And a man name Mathijs opened the door and let us in, he had talked with the missionaries before and he said they were great and really open, we had a simple lesson with him about the Book of Mormon and we now have a return appointment with him also!

This week was a pretty awesome one for us, even though we are super hyped about it, we need to make sure we stay focused and pay attention to our investigators needs, I am so grateful for what the Lord does for us as simple missionaries! He truly blesses us with those that are in need and are willing to hear what we have to share! I hope you all have a great week and I will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!
