Happy Easter Dames en Heren!

Goedemiddag everyone!! This week has been has been really good! I have been getting better from having a cold, and we just saw some good things happen this week! Also thank you to everyone that wished me a Happy Birthday, it means a lot!

This week we had a lot of things planned such as service and some lessons, and visiting some less actives and everyone to introduce the new Easter Campaign! Well I will begin talking about our really funny experience on Wednesday though. SO Elder Young and I had some time on Wednesday to go and knock some doors, because this was the only day that we had a chance to go find. And the level of wanting to knock doors that day was not so high. But as we were knocking, we had been just chatting about how knocking doors isn't the most effective way to find and were losing a little bit of faith. Well the very next door I told Elder Young. "Watch man, this next door is going to listen and be a potential." As a lady opens the door I tell her that we are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ and that we are sharing a message and a book about Jesus Christ and it is called the Book of Mormon. She had never heard of the "Mormons" before and we had a nice talk about our religion and the Book of Mormon and gave her one and she was super positive and we were welcome to come back this week and talk to her a little more about the how and why of the Book of Mormon! all I have to say is God is real and has a sense of Humor.  We also ended up talking to a 9 year old about some religious subjects and he was a super smart and funny kid!

On Thursday we had Interviews with President Bunnell and that went well, He ended up talking about my last transfer and what I want to accomplish, so I think it is a possibility that I will stay in Assen! Friday and Saturday we had the chance to go do service with a part member family that we are involved with here in Assen, and we had to rip paint of the outside frames of there house, so that Eric could paint them a different color. It was a lot of work, but the weather was super nice. It was really nice to help them out, because they have two kids and are very busy and we ended up doing a lot for them. Gladys and Eric were super thankful that we came and did that for them and you never know! I just felt super good helping them out and I knew it meant a lot for them!

Sunday was super frustrating.. Our train to Church was late and that made us miss our bus and so we took a bus that I thought would get us there... but we ended up sitting on that bus for an 1 1.5 hours and yes if you guessed we missed the sacrament... so Elder Young and I are going without the sacrament for 2 weeks... Still trying to figure out what I am learning from this experience.. We still ended up having a great Sunday to say the least!

This week was good and hopefully this next week will be a good one as well! I love you all and hope you Enjoy Easter with your Families. I know that we have a Savior that loves us and most importantly that he lives. He is always there to offer peace to us in our lives. For that is the reason he was sent to this Earth. He is the Prince of Peace. I hope you all grow closer to him daily such as I do and try to do. I am thankful for him. And remember You never know how much good you can do.

I love you all and will talk to you soon! TOT ZIENS!!
P.s. We are going to Keukenhof this Wednesday!!

Elder Morey + Head Cold = Not Happy Elder Morey

Well Goedemiddag everyone! I hope everyone had a great week this week and also had a great Conference Weekend! I for sure did! I know for sure a lot of Questions were answered and the Spirit was felt! This week we also had Zone Training and we were shown the new Easter Initiative #PrinceofPeace!! It is super exciting, so get sharing!!

We had the ability to meet with some of our investigators and less actives this week and that went really well, we have quite a few potential investigators so hopefully they will turn into new investigators! Exciting things coming this next upcoming week!

Well to start off this email, I probably should explain a little about why I have my subject up there. Wednesday we had the chance to do some service for a Family named Family Gout. We were cleaning up the outside and inside of there parents house to prepare it to be sold. Elder Mostoller and I had the opportunity to work outside in the rain and rake leaves and clean up the outside of the house. And at the end of the day I began feeling sick and I will let you all know that I NEVER get sick, but this time I ended up getting a really bad head cold.. From Thursday to Saturday It was pretty bad and affected the work on those days, we still went to appointments and did what I could, but to be honest I was super negative about everything and was honestly having some doubts about my missionary work and just feeling down as to why I was sick and just having a super rough time... BUT!! Elder Morey was humbled through conference!!

I want you to all know that I have a testimony of our Heavenly Father and that he answers our prayers and KNOWS his Childrens needs. His Apostles and Prophets are inspired through the Spirit. They gave many talks that were meant for me to hear, and especially were for my needs and time that I was struggling with fear, doubt, and negativity. Through Conference many of my questions, fears and doubts were answered.

Everyone, I learn a lot and continue to learn and trust me I have a lot to learn! But I am grateful for a Heavenly Father that has corrected me at this time to be a better servant of him and to be better, all he wants for us is to become closer to him and his Son. I know that this is a true gospel! I love you all and hope you all have a great week and I will talk to you soon! TOT ZIENS!!

Conference Weekend and Easter is Underway!!

Goedemorgen Familie en Vrienden!! SO I once again don´t have to much time, but I will try my hardest to type as fast as humanly possible!

Lots of things have happened since the last email, Elder Groesbeck is now home and all is well for him. Elder Young and I are doing well together and are having a lot of fun as well and seeing some success already! The Weather is just absolutely the best, we went out the other day just in our white shirts, and we received a lot of confused and scary looks from everyone, haha gotta love it!

I don´t know if I told you all but I got released as a DL, because we are now part of the Groningen District and we will now have a lot of time just to us and the Work, so that is really nice, but I will miss all the exchanges and being involved with the District Members. But we are excited to be a part or Groningen!

So this week has been really busy actually, I set up a lot of appointments and it was a really great week! We had the chance to go knocking on Saturday, which was the only time we had this whole week thank goodness! We were doing a look up at first and he wasn´t home and when we were biking there I saw and area that honestly looked really cool and I thought to myself, hey we should knock there and low and behold we ended up finding two potentials there. One of which is pretty positive and told us that we could come back some time and share our message!! YAAASSSS!!!

Our investigators that we do have are doing well and are making good progression. We ended up having a less active come to church on Sunday, which was awesome. He is from Indonesia and he is hilarious. But overall it was a solid week and we are getting super hyped over here in Assen for General Conference! I hope you all have a great time Watching Conference and make sure to take some notes! I love you all and will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!

Trust More, Fear Less.

TRANSFER CALLS, ELDER GROESBECK HEADING HOME

Everyone. Goedemorgen. I have no time at all now. Just in Thies De Jonge a member here in the Groningen Ward, just called us and said that Golfing is going through!!! SO we are about to peace out and hit the golf course!!!! I am super hyped about it!

SO this week was a hard one. We didn't see to much success. But we are excited for the future of Assen. I got my transfer calls this week and I will be staying and getting Elder Young. He is a transfer below me, so it will be interesting for the both of us. I wonder if he is going to be the one who will send me home.. super weird. Even though the work can be hard some days, I can still see the blessings of missionary work here and there.

We had an investigator come to church and that was super awesome!! He enjoyed it and hopefully him and his wife who is a member, will start coming more often! I literally cannot describe how exciting it is to have some come to church and enjoy it! Love it!

Also had a cool experience in Church that day, I had the opportunity to be involved with a baptismal interview for a lady that is getting baptized on the week of General Conference so that was cool. I and Elder Groesbeck then after church were invited to ordain a young man to be the Priest Quorom assistant. His name is Niels De Jonge. And it really meant a lot to Elder Groesbeck and I that we were being good examples to Niels and that he invited us to be a part of that. It meant the whole world to me. Being a missionary rocks to say the least.

I love you all and hope you have a great week and I will talk to you soon! I will send some photos soon! If you have time you should read the first Presidency message for April!! TOT ZIENS!!

NL Doet Dag!!

Goedemiddag everyone!! First off I don't have too much time, so hopefully my typing skills will be better and I can type faster! Also Birthday shoutout to my boy in Alaska Elder Tyler John Fawson!! He is turning 20 this week!! So shoot him an email and tell him Happy Birthday!!

This week was awesome here in Assen, we were busy and saw a lot of little miracles through the week! First off We had NL Doet Dag this week, which is a Nederland wide day of service, last year I was in Deventer for it and this time we had the opportunity to go with the Groningen Missionaries and do some spring cleaning for a local Stable for horses, we were there for about 5 hours just cleaning the whole place. I ended up cleaning and shining the saddles for the horses and just doing some manual labor for them. It is Always nice to do some service and smell like Horse Poop!

This Friday we had the opportunity to go to our investigators Birthday party. It was a lot of fun, it was really cool to see that the whole family really warmed up to us. Normally people are quite scared of us for some reason, but they just treated us like we were family and had a great discussion about faith and beliefs and it was really awesome, Iona makes the best food in the world!!

On Saturday we had the chance to go on Exchanges with the Emmen Elders and I went with Elder Vander Werff. He has been on the mission for about 6 months now. We had a great time knocking doors and having people get upset with us. We ended up seeing a dead guy on the side of the road having CPR done to him, so that was scary. Later that day we decided to go to a place in Assen called Kloosterveen and knock and do some lookups. We ended up contacting a referall that was interested and getting back in contact with some really positive Former investigators! SO it was a super succesvol week!

On Sunday we sang in Church and it was nice, Grietje our investigator came to church which was super surprising! She seemed to have felt the Spirit, so that was all that matters! We ended up having 8 investigators in Church as a ward! Well this is Elder Groesbecks last week, so we are going to make it his best one! I love you all and will talk to you soon! and remember that The Lord loves you!!

Groningen 160

Goedemorgen everyone!! This week was an awesome one for us here in Assen! We had a lot of good sucess and the move to Groningen was a sucess as well! I don't have too much time today, but first shout out to my Mom and Older Brother Matt, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you two have a great week and a great birthday!!

Okay so this week we saw a lot of small miracles happen. Elder Groesbeck and Elder Thornock were on Exchanges in Assen on Wednesday and they ended up knocking into two Former investigators that want us to come back! SO we set up a time with them this week! That was super cool! While I was in Zwolle with Elder Mikkelsen we ended up finding a cool investigator for them that wants to come to church and learn more about the Book of Mormon. We ended up teaching her a Restoration on the door and it was really cool!

Well the move to Groningen began on Sunday and needless to say it was packed, There is now a ward in Groningen that has 160 members. It was insane. It was crazy to see that, it felt like a ward in Utah! In the Apeldoorn Ring, we have probably one of the best Stake Presidencies in the Netherlands, everytime I hear the stake president talk, the Spirit is no doubt in the room. He talked a lot about recognizing the feelings in our heart and not with our head, and that when we go through the hard frustrations in life, we can always go back to how we feel about our Savior and how much the Gospel has affected our lives! It was great!

Well sorry this was super short and very little information, but I love you all and hope you have a great week! Hopefully it is getting warmer wherever you are! Remember that you have a Father in Heaven who loves you and you literally are his work and glory! Tot Ziens!!

Time to move to Groningen!

Well goedemiddag everyone!! I hope you all had a great week! First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sister DeVries in the Utica mission! Next week we will be heading to Church in Groningen, so this last Sunday was the last time the Branch in Assen would be meeting together, it is still emotional for a couple of the members and some not so hard, but it will all be good in the end!

We had a miracle happen on Sunday as well! Now here in Assen we work with two part member Family's, and on Sunday they all came to church!!! So we ended up having 5 investigators in Church, which was super awesome! They all enjoyed it and hopefully they will be able to come more often to Groningen!

This last week we had Zone Conference which was super nice, We talked about Goal setting and having more Faith as missionaries. President Bunnell gave a bomb presentation on Faith and it was just a really needed Conference for everyone. Elder Groesbeck had to give his departing testimony which was super sad, I am going to miss him when he leaves...

We didn't have too much success finding this week, the only day we found someone was when Elder Stevenson and I were on Exchanges in Assen. We did a quick look up that was a less active to see if she was coming to church on Sunday, and we had some extra time before Lunch, so we thought we would knock some doors. And it ended up being Sunny that day, so it made knocking a lot more bearable! But we ended up finding 2 potentials that seem to be interested in the Book of Mormon and what we have to share, so Exchanges always bring success!!

So I say the highlight of my week had to have been on the train ride home from Exchanges. Elder Groesbeck and I exchanged back in a city called Zwolle and had a hour train ride back home. Now when we sat down there was 2 cute 10 year old dutch girls sitting across from us. And they were being funny and messing with people outside of the train. They heard Elder Groesbeck and I talking English. One of them in Dutch said, "They are Americans." Thinking I wouldn't understand what they were saying, so I turned and asked them in Dutch, "Have you ever been to America before?"
If you only could see there reactions and faces when they heard me speak Dutch.. haha it was hilarious! We then had some Language Study with them the whole train ride home, they made us ask them English words to see if they knew them in Dutch and vice versa. I have never laughed so hard in my life and have never been so happy getting off that train knowing that even though I didn't share the gospel with them, they thought Elder Groesbeck and I were pretty funny and that is missionary work in itself, just being an example.

I hope you all have a great week and hopefully Spring is under way for everyone else! The Sun is shining here in the Netherlands and that makes me happy! I love you all and will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!!
