The Rain Here is a Real Thing..

Hallo mijn famile en frienden! This email is going to be just a little short, Me and Elder Woltjen are going to Amsterdam for P day! SO I will try to type as fast as I can! This week was a little crazy and had it's good times! First, I finished the Book Of Mormon! and now I am starting the new testament and am going to try and finish the whole Missionary Library by the end of my Mission! I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book and is the Word of God! I got the overwhelming feeling of when I read Moroni's promise in Moroni 10 that this book was true! I know it, and I know that God knows it!

So it was a little wet this week! It was a non stop storm for like two days and it was just absolutely insane! the rain here is just crazy! I have a pretty funny picture of me soaked, you will enjoy it.. we had a lot of doors slamme don us and a whole ton of no's this week! but got to keep my head up and find those searching for the Gospel! So we finally found an investigator and his name is Maneer van Heyst! We taught him the first lesson and he was very open and loved it! The only problem is that he wants to meet every 2 weeks! so that will be the only challenge! SO keep him in your prayers if you could!

I went on Exchanges this week for the first time in the city of Den Haag, with Elder Strikwerda! He is the funniest and coolest kid! We had a good time contacting at the beach and gave out a lot of pass along cards, because there was a beach volleyball tournament going on and there was quite a few people there! so it was really cool! Then we went to this crazy members home and had Dinner! So it was a pretty cool and different experience!

I am grateful for all that the Gospel provides for me! I see blessings everyday imserving the Lord! I definetley have a lot more to work on and learn! My Dutch is slowly getting better and I understand more everyday!

That's not the Language they taught me in the MTC...

Well I am in the Belgium/Netherlands Mission!!! It is so beautiful here!! After the long 10 hour flight, We all got our bags loaded them in a van and shipped them to a hotel we were staying at for the night! We all had to do some legality stuff for residency stuff! We literally were all zombies and luckily enough President and Zuster Bunnell let us take a nap so that was delightful! Can I just say the food here is the bomb!! It is so much better than the MTC food!! The next meeting we found out where we all were going to be serving! it was like opening your call again! it was so intense! I got assigned to the city of Leiden! and funny thing was we were already in Leiden so all I had to do was walk out the door!

We woke up the next day and this is the day when it gets real! We got assigned our trainers and headed out to our apartments, and our areas! My apartment is fairly nice, probably better than most! We then unpacked got settled and had to go get groceries and this took up the whole day with all the transfers and such!

They truly did not teach me the right language in the MTC! I have no idea what people say most of the time! haha! they speak so darn fast and I can't keep up!! I am getting good at speaking though! I think by the end of the transfer I will be a lot better than I was! We went knocking and contacting and it was really cool to learn what to say, to those on the streets I would say..Maagt ik een kaartje aan u geven? (Can I give a card to you?)majority of the time they say no I am not interested..

But this past week I ended up giving out a lot of pass along cards and.... a Het BOEK VAN MORMON (BOOK of MORMON)!! I was so stoked! I had only been here for three days and I already gave one out! the lady's name was Anna so hopefully she will call us soon! and after that happened we walked around the corner and some crazy lady asked us who we were and what we did then after we explained all of that she kissed me and Elder Woltjen on the cheek! it was so weird and hilarious!! haha!!

So this week was pretty dang exciting! This Sunday I had to bear my testimony in Dutch during Sacrament Meeting and it went very well! all the members say that I sound like I have been in the land for a year so that always makes me feel better about my Dutch! Oh crazy story! The Bishop's wife ended up going into labor during sacrament meeting so that was crazy! I love the Dutch Saints here, the Spirit they have is just flat out amazing to feel and hear! I truly know that I was called here for a reason and to serve in Leiden at this time in my Mission. I know there is someone that needs me here. I can't wait to start teaching the Gospel to those who want to receive it. I was reading in Preach My Gospel in the chapter Finding People, and I found a scripture in DC and it said that Heavenly Father is preparing those people that want there eyes to be open to the Gospel and those are the people we just need to find! I know that Prayer is essential for everything and anything, and that our Heavenly Father will always answer us, as long as we are exercising our faith! The Gospel is such a blessing to me and I see it every day I am out serving! Heavenly Father is truly there for us when we need him! All we have to do, is simply just ask! Love you all and will talk to you all soon! Tot ziens! Dooi!

Serving in Leiden!!!!

Well we got an email this morning from Sister Bunnell!!!!

Dear Parents of Elder Morey,

Elder Morey is safe and has arrived in the Belgium/Netherlands Mission. What a delight it was to see him as he arrived with 22 other Elders, with a big smile on his face!(although somewhat tired). Thanks for preparing him to be a missionary, arriving with great desires to love and serve the Lord. He will be serving in Leiden, Netherlands. His companion is Elder Woltjen. They left us with eagerness in their steps.

Sending pictures: at the Amsterdam airport, receiving his call to serve in Leiden, ( with President and me), and with his companion.

Feel free to email with concerns any time. We will do our best to love and care for your son for the next two years.

Lovingly,
President and Sister Bunnell

Hallo Nederlands!!!!! Week 6

We spoke with Noah on Monday after he arrived at the airport and went through security for about 20 minutes before he boarded the flight.  He sounded really good and was excited to get there and get to work.  While he was on the phone he was also talking with his companion Elder Croft in Dutch because they don't speak in English to each other and it was amazing to hear him.  He got to the airport from the MTC by taking FrontRunner and then Trax with 25 other missionaries and met four others that were going to the Barcelona MTC.  People on the trains were taking pictures of all the Elders together and Noah said he gave out four pass along cards.  One of those going to Barcelona was Trevor Allen his friend from school that he played basketball with at Fremont (What's the odds out of the thousands of new Elders that they would end up on the same plane together!!)  We haven't heard from him or his mission president yet as to what city he has been assigned but we are anxiously waiting!!! We tracked the flight and made sure it landed at 2:30 am Tuesday morning then finally got a little sleep.

Gaan Nederland!!!!! (Week 5)

Hello famile en vrienden (Hello family and friends)! This week went by really well! I have gotten to the point in the MTC where everything is my last! and that Is a really exciting thing to think about! Because sometimes we feel like we are in prison.. haha spiritual prison of course!! The language is coming really well and I learn something new everyday! We are at the point where all we do is just review everything so that We at least know a little dutch before we head out there!!

Well I got my Flight Plans this week and I am so very grateful that I am going to the NETHERLANDS!! I am so excited to go! but a little scared at the same time! The flight is going to take forever! but hey that is completely alright! I will just have to read the Book of Mormon and sleep hopefully!! Ik weet dat mijn Nederlands is niet goed (I know my Dutch is not good)
, and that I will understand nothing for a little while but then I will get used to the speaking and I will pick it up!!

So this last Friday our district had the chance to teach some lessons over skype to people that were in the Netherlands or in Belgium! It was the coolest thing!! Elder Croft and I taught a man named Christiaan and he was really cool and was a member of course!! It just made us super excited to get over there!! We skype again tomorrow so that should be real exciting!

We had a devotional this Tuesday and it was really good! Elder Grow from the Seventy spoke to us and he talked and explained about Doctrine and Covenants 4 (1 Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. 2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. 3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are calledto the work; 4 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;5 And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work. 6 Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence. 7 Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.) and how much we need to follow this scripture! He knew how to connect to each and every missionary! it was an absolute awesome talk!

Crazy to think that I'll be leaving the MTC soon, But I am truly grateful for all the spiritual growth I have had! My testimony has grown so strong and knowing that we have a Heavenly Father that loves us and knows us individually by name and has this gospel on earth for us! I can not wait to share this with the people in the Netherlands! I will just have to try my best with that language and have the Spirit do the rest of the talking for me!!

Talk to you real soon out in the field!! Tot ziens!!

Russell M. Nelson!!! (Week 4)

Hoi mijn familie en vrienden! (Hi my family and friends!) crazy to think that I've been here a month! Time seriously flies! Our district gets our flight plans in two days on Friday! So hopefully pooping in a cup has paid off to put me on a plane to the Netherlands!! or to Reno, Nevada... But we will see what happens!! If the Lord wants me State side for a transfer then that's where I'm suppose to be then!

But besides all that this week has been great! Elder Croft and I are about to baptize two of our investigators that we have! We will know for sure tomorrow if they will fully commit! The language is really good, I can understand and speak fluently or I'd like to think I can! It keeps getting harder, because of how the sentences are and how hard the past tense of verbs and reflexive verbs.. but I'm getting the hang of it!

So funny story, The Norwegian missionaries in our district were suppose to head out this Monday but there flight got delayed so far back that they wouldn't have made there other flight to Norway!! so they cam back to the MTC for another night! they were not happy at all! but they headed out today and some tomorrow morning so that's good!

So mom I get to sing with Nashville Tribute a couple days before I leave! and get to meet them so I guess you could say that is pretty cool! and yes mom I have been doing MTC choir and when the broadcast for the Elder Nelson devotional was going the choir sang and I was in one of the shots I think so if they put a video of that talk online you may see me possibly!!

We also got to hear from Sheri Dew Tuesday if you don't know who she is, she runs Deseret book so that was way cool! and she is an amazing speaker! So onto Elder Nelsons devotional! It was absolutely amazing! I learned so much from that Devotional and know that I needed to hear something last night personally for me! There was so much that the Spirit taught me and I wrote down. He taught that God's goals have never changed and never will! Which is the scripture Moses 1:39! He also taught that we need to have the doctrines of Christ in our heart and know them! always to be obedient and that it will bring miracles! Another one was our constant journey is following the Lord! His talk was amazing, the biggest thing I got out of it was that I am always making difference and I will always be throughout my Mission! His talk was definitely a game changer, it was an amazing feeling of peace and comfort of this glorious work that is happening!

I'm grateful to be a representative of Christ and serve in his cause and bring Scattered Israel the gospel! I know that the church is so true and that we always have a heavenly father that is there for us and always will be when we need him! he is just a prayer away! I know the book of Mormon and the bible are the word of God and teach the true teachings of Christ! and that through our reading and prayer of these books that God will truly bless us! ik zegt deze dings in de naam van jezus christus amen!

Talk to you all soon! thanks for all your prayers and support! Love you!!
