Vrolijk Kerstfeest (Merry Christmas) 2016

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!!!  We had a wonderful time Skyping with Noah!!  He wasn't able to email because of the Library being closed for the holiday on Monday but is doing well and excited to work hard for the remaining 5 1/2 months he has left!  Hard to believe he will be coming home soon.  He is transferring to the city of Assen on Wednesday to be a District Leader there with Elder Groesbeck so we are looking forward to some exciting news next week!

Merry Christmas!!!!

GOEDEMIDDAG everyone!! I hope you all are getting really excited for Christmas!! I know I am! We had our Ward Christmas Party on Friday and it was great!! Lots of Food, visitors and of course Santa!! Dutch Santa came and it was great! This week has been a solid one! We had a lot of miracles transpire and it was great! Let me tell you a little about it!

Okay so first off we had another great week of teaching and meeting with our investigators! The ones that we have progressing are doing super well and continue to make steps toward their Savior! One miracle was with our boy Gino! We have been reading in the Book of Mormon with him in 3 Nephi and we recently shared a talk with him called Be Not Deceived by Dallin H. Oaks! and it hit him super hard! and it is times like that where you know that the Spirit will touch our investigators and put them on the right path! I love meeting with all our investigators here in the Heerlen/Maastricht area, they all have something unique about them and where they are in life. and I love seeing them making connections and having the Spirit touch them, it is cool to see!

We have recently as a mission started a Campaign called Joy to the World and people here in the Mission can order a free DVD and we get to go give this DVD to them and ask them what they thought about it and etc. well, Elder Finley and I have received 40 of them and we have no idea how we are going to contact them all soon.. so The work continues to go forward here and we are keeping super busy!

Now about Christmas. I hope you all are having a great season. I love this time of year, I recently talked with an investigator about this time of year and why she thought it was great. and it always comes back to families and togetherness. I am grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. He has provided everything for us, so that we may have joy. Especially with those around us. I am grateful for Christmas, but also for Easter. I know that HE LIVES!! He came for one purpose and that was for us. I hope you all enjoy being with each other this week and enjoy Christmas Day and please think of your Savior and what he means to you! Because I know he loves you. I love you and will see you all soon!! have a great week and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!🎄⛄❄🎆🎁🎄

Gotta Love the Festivities!!!

Goedemiddag everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful Monday so far! We are going with a member today for a P day and he hasn't told us what it is because it is a surprise, so we will see what happens... pictures will follow.. So I don't have too much time, but I will summarize quickly!

This week was really awesome, it went by to fast!! Our week was literally planned full this week, which is super nice, and we had some really cool experiences and miracles this week! First off to update you on all of our progressing investigators. They are all doing well, Gino is doing good. He promised to come to church, but didn't come. So I was a little upset, but I still love the guy and have faith that he will come sometime! Diana is doing well, we had to cancel our appointment on Saturday, but we are going over tomorrow to teach her the Plan of Salvation! Then M, and T and doing well also and are making positive steps. T surprised us coming to church and that was a huge miracle, she was super happy and had a great time at Church!
We ended up teaching a Syrian Family this week, that was really nice to us and let us in and we taught them a run down Restoration through a translator, I feel like I should learn Arabic..

We had Christmas Conference on Thursday and a Seventy Elder Johnson and his wife came and spoke to us. It was probably one of the best Conferences I have had on my mission, the presentation he gave was exactly what the mission and all of our missionaries needed. He talked about how we have been called by a prophet to be a good missionary and that we have the advantage to accomplish that on our missions. So that was really cool to be apart of. I also sang a song in Swedish for the Conference, so that was cool! We spent the whole day in Rotterdam, and it was great!

I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the Christmas Season and don't forgot to keep putting Christ in Christmas! I love you all and will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!!

Happy Sinterklaas!!!

Goedemmiddag everyone!! This week was really great! We did a lot of Teaching which was super nice! It is also a Nederland Holiday today!! I hope everyone got some Pepernoten(gingersnaps) in their shoes! and yes that is what the Dutch do here! I wish I could explain more on the Holiday!

Now about the week a little bit, we had some pretty good lessons throughout the week with Gino, he is progressing well, he just needs to come to Church and also accept some other things but besides that he is looking good and I really love teaching this man, he is the funniest Aruban I have ever met!

Diana has been doing okay, all we did this week with her was talk with her, she has had some recent events happen in her life and is having a hard time. But we continue to go through the lessons with her to prepare her for Baptism, we just have to figure a way to get her to Church! Our last lesson with her, her father was there and we had a fun time. You all know of the Virtual Reality Goggle things. Diana has one and it is mind blowing! So she had her father try it out by putting him in a Virtual Reality Roller Coaster.. well he nearly had a Heart Attack to say the least and I and Diana were dying of laughter!! Super funny!

We also had Two Investigators come to Church on Sunday unexpected, which was cool! They both didn't stay for the full block, but it was good they were there! This week was full of learning experiences also, I love how the Lord works with his children! I know our Identity as Children of God is a huge meaning in this life. I know everytime an investigator prays or anyone, that our Heavenly Father or God hears our prayers and has a unbelieveable love for us! I hope you all have a great week and continue to follow the Church's Advent Calendar! #LIGHTtheWORLD! I will talk to you all soon and I hope you have a great week! Tot Ziens!!

Let the Chirstmas Season Begin!!!

Goedemorgen Everyone!! SO I don't have too much time today, because we are having a Turkey bowl in Tilburg! SO I will try to get everything in I can! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and ate a bunch of Food!! We did too just to let you know!

SO this week was super good!! We had the chance to teach all of our progressing investigators and get in contact with other formers! First I would like to talk about Diana, she has been investigating for a while now and she has stopped drinking alcohol and is almost done with smoking. And we had a lesson on Tuesday and she pops the question, Elders when can I be baptized. (slight pause as the elders look at each other than back at the investigator) Elder Morey answers, yeah we can set a date with you and strive for that if you would like? Diana answers, yeah I would like that. SO Diana has a bap date for Feb 4 and will start coming to church and wanting to be baptized!! SO that was a miracle!

Gino is doing well, we still meet with him twice a week and he is making good progress, he just needs to come to church still and accept/ gain a testimony of certain things! But we are still working with him, to get him to baptism!  All of our other investigators are doing well and we hope to continue to meet with them and get them progressing as well!

Now I have something to share with everyone, there is a huge Christmas initiative that the church is doing and it is called #LIGHTtheWORLD. You all need to look at this video and see what the church is wanting to accomplish. It is super cool!! It has a great way to follow the Savior and put Christ in Christmas!!! SO please go check it out and also share it with others!! I love you all and will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, AND Transfers!

Goedemorgen Everyone!! Well this week was a good one, Transfers went by pretty smoothly and everything went good! I went to Den Bosch to pick up Elder Finley and take him back to Heerlen, so it was successful! Elder Finley and I are doing great and decorating for Chirstmas already!

I have a pretty cool story to tell about Transfer Day, so as Elder Bringhurst and I were on the Train late to Den Bosch, so we were kinda worried that our Zone Leaders would be a little upset at us, because we went out for breakfast with some members. Well to say the least we were meant to be late. When we got to a city called Sittard, the Conductor saw that Elder Bringhurst and I were reading in the Book of Mormon, and he asked how the story was going? So I said have you ever heard of the Book of Mormon? He returned with no I do not. So I began to teach him about it and told him about the Restoration a little bit, well he was super interessted and I ended up giving him a Book of Mormon and he was super pumped to read it, he doesn't live in our area, but it goes to show that even though Elder Morey thought he was gonna be in trouble for being late to pick up his companion, but it turned out that it was meant to be!

Well our Investigators are doing well, Our baptismal date is doing okay, he recently has been having a hard time with his family, but he is still progressing towards baptism, we just need to get his butt to church! We will get him going though! We meet with Diana this week and she was doing okay also, she was pretty sad to see Elder Bringhurst leave, which broke my heart also to see how much she loved him and connected with him. But we read in the Book of Mormon with her and hopefully we can find a way for her to come to church, since she isn't too physically able. But further this week has been good and I am excited for this next week!

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your families and enjoy the heaps of Food! I can't wait to hear how it all went! If you ever have time, you should listen to the song "Thankful" by Josh Groban, it is a good Thanksgiving/Christmas song! I hope you all have a great week and I love you all! TOT ZIENS!!

"There is always something to be Thankful for...."

"Yeah, Mexico beat Trump this week..."

Goedemorgen everyone!!! I would first like to give a shoutout to my Grandpa, who is having a BIRTHDAY this Friday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA!🎊🎉 Hope it is a great one!! Love ya! This week was a super good one for us here in Heerlen! The weather was super cold, but we were inside mainly teaching the whole week! So we recieved Transfer Calls on Saturday and I will be staying in Heerlen, while Elder Bringhurst will be leaving to Ijmuiden, which is by the Haarlem area! I am super sad to be losing Bringhurst, he is an absolute stud and I love the guy very much, I enjoyed the one transfer we got to spend with each other! My new companion is going to be Elder Finley, he is younger than I am and is about 6 months or longer out on his mission, so we will see how it will all go! But I am excited to say the least about staying in Heerlen for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!

Well a little about the week, first off we met with all of our progressing investigators this week! Our first one is our guy from Aruba! He is doing well and has been working really hard with us to reach the goal of baptism! We meet about two to three times a week, which is really good for him and for us, so he is making good progress still, we meet with him Tomorrow!

We then had a day in Maastricht with our Investigators M & D. We first went to M and read out of the Book of Mormon together in 1 nephi 21 about Isaiah, and we helped her understand what it was saying and talking about, and she loved it and she recently got super excited to look up movies about the Early church days to see what it was like, so we are excited to see what she thinks about them, I love when Investigators are truly invested!!! We then got on a bus over to D and chatted with her, she has been working on quiting smoking, which she has done miracously! She is almost off cigarettes!! She never really smiles too much with us, so our goal always going in is to read out of the Book Of Mormon with her and making her smile, and when she does laugh or smile, man that makes my day as a missionary!

We had a talent show this week for a ward activity and it went really well, I will have to send you the video of Elder Bringhursts and I! I am super excited to stay another transfer her in Heerlen, The work has been great and even though its cold as I will get out, I still find joy seeing the Lord's investigators progress! I hope you all have a great week and I will talk to you soon! Tot ziens!

We do our Best!

Goedemiddag Everyone!!

Well this week was a pretty solid one for us in Heerlen, it was a simple week but a good one! Well I had the chance to go Golfing on P day, I unfortunately don't have an pictures, but I will get some that Br. Wilde took of us! Needless to say after a while of not touching a club, it took a little while to get the swing back a little! But it felt great!!

The most big Highlight of our week is probably our Baptismal Date, we met with him this week twice and the second time we came over this week, we were talking about Joesph Smith and how the Restoration came to be, and we ended up watching the full movie of the Restoration. And the Spirit was super strong during the whole movie, at the end Gino ended up saying that he is slowly gaining a testimony of the Prophet Joesph Smith! We meet with him about 3x a week now so that is super nice for preparing him for Baptism!!

We ended up getting new cabinets in the apartment the other day, they look nice and modern, it gives some nice fungshoui to the apartment! haha for the rest of the week, we taught some other lessons and they all went well, we are mainly focusing hardcore on Gino and getting him on the right track! So hopefully we will have a better week next week! Winter is coming here in the Netherlands, and its getting cold! Hope you all stay warm and have a great week! Talk to you soon! Love you all!!

KRUIDNOTEN!!

GOEDEMORGEN everyone! Well we had another solid week here in Heerlen, we ended up biking quite a lot and my legs have never been so tired and me myself has never been so tired! I am obviously out of shape.. but besides that we had a great week, getting in touch with some of our referalls and our potential investigators!

We didn't teach as much this week, because of our investigators were busy through the week, but the ones we did teach were really great, the first one was with one of our investigators in Maastricht. She is great and she ended up opening up to us because of something she watched on the church website, she ended up watching the Face to Face with Studio C and she really enjoyed it, so the church website is great for your investigators!

We also taught one of our investigators that lives pretty close to the church in Heerlen and has been investigating for quite some time now, we have super good relations with him and we are practically his homies! so we just have to see where he stands in the gospel and the why behind he is meeting with us! SO that was solid!

We had a cool little miracle last night, we go to this old persons home in a place called Kerkrade, it is close to the German border. And we go there because we have a member that is there called Br. Smeets, we usually go there and the old people love us, they call us lekker stuks! haha! practically means sexy in dutch! But we call them our fan club. When we were leaving the home, a lady was visiting her husband there and she recently was having a hard time, but we ended up talking with her to the bus stop and also to her bus stop and the whole time she said thank you so much, I feel safe with you two around, it just meant a lot to me that she was happy and feeled safe that we were with her when normally she is alone, even though we didn't use our words to preach the gospel, it still meant something to her.

We have recently seen some great success with referals and some of them have some good potential behind them, so this next week we are excited to see where that all goes with them! Gotta find the ELECT!! But life is going great in Heerlen, we have the Halloween party coming up soon, so that will be exciting! I hope you all have a great Halloween by the way!

I love you all and hope that you have a great week this week! Tot volgende week!

BELGIUM!

Goedemiddag everyone!! Well this week was a crazy one for us in Heerlen! We ended up having a lot of Traveling to do and being places so we didn't get to work as hard as we would've liked to! But we still had many things that were great about this week!

First highlight of the week is that Elder Bringhurst and I had a great day on Tuesday teaching two of our Investigators, they both live in the city of Maastricht! and we had great lessons with them, the first one we had we read out of the book of Mormon and talked about. She is super intrigued about the Book of Mormon and wants to continue to learn and read more and see if it is true! SO that is super promising! IT is great to see her desire and willingness! You don't see that too often!! Next we went to our other investigator and had a solid conversation about the gospel and about the Fruits of the gospel! It was a really great lesson and she continues to progress and do well!

We then had exchanges on Thrusday after our Zone Training in Eindhoven. I was with Elder Smith in Eindhoven, and Elders Bringhurst and Van den Dungen Bille were in Heerlen. Elder Smith had a solid exchange and ended up teaching a nice family from Africa about the Book of Mormon and how it can make her feel less stressed with her daily life if she would take the time to read and pray, so that was great and we had a great exchange!
The very next day, we exchanged back in Heerlen and Elder Bringhurst and I had the opportunity to go with an American Family to an AMERICAN FOOTBALL GAME!!!! The boys in the ward play for the school so we ate dinner with the family and went to the game! It was great! It felt like a little piece of home! They lost, but Elder Bringhurst and I cheered our hearts out! aha it was fun!

Then on Saturday we had to travel down to Brussels to sleep over at the Brussels Elders apartment so we could be to the Stake Conference on time, and it was a crazy travel there, it took FOREVER, but it is great to serve in such a beautiful mission! We got to see some beautiful places! Stake Conference went well and was cool to see a new part of the mission! I love you all and hope you have a great week! and don't forget! KEEP IT HALAL!!!!

Heerlen/Maastricht

Goedemiddag everyone! Well another successful transfer week. I made it safely down to Heerlen and met up with my new companion Elder Bringhurst! He and I needless to say are going to get along very well and maybe even too well! But it has been a solid couple of days here in Heerlen and Maastricht! If you ever get the chance to look at pictures of these cities, you need to! It is stunning!

Well I unfortunately don´t have a recorder anymore, so I might go out and buy one, because I really enjoyed doing recordings, so we will see how that will go. but for now you get a typed email! SO I got into Heerlen on Wednesday and the Ward ended up having a General Conference Activity that night and I ended up endulging in American Food my first night there, so that was amazing. I just pray I don´t get fat here.. The Ward is amazing, it is a Military Ward, so that is really cool! The members are really nice and cool!

The work in Heerlen/Maastrict is really good, we have a lot of people to teach and a lot of potential invesitgators, our area is pretty huge so it is a very promising area! I have the opportunity to see a couple of them and to begin knowing their needs. So in later emails I will be talking a little bit more about them and how they are doing, but for the week so far, it was just me getting used to a new area and getting comfortable! I promise I will have stories next week! I hope you all have a great week and I will talk to you soon! Tot Ziens!

Baptism+General Conference = Best Combination Ever!!

Goedemiddag everyone!! Well as you can see from the subject of the email, this was probably one of the best weeks of my life on the mission! We just had an absolute amazing week! I will tell you more about the Baptism, then the week because we have made a recording of the week!

Well first off Brenda or now Zuster van der Velden is going to be an amazing asset to this Ward here in Arnhem, she is just a personality where people flock to her, and that was very true on her baptismal day, half of the people at the Baptismal Service were non-members! She is an amazing example of Christ's love for others! She is just always happy no matter what! It was an absolute blessing to be an instrument in the Lord's hand to teach Brenda and be a part of her journey! She will receive the Holy Ghost this next Sunday, I unfortunately won't be there for it, because I will be in Heerlen. But It was amazing to work in such a great place like Arnhem. It truly has changed my life. I hope you all enjoyed Conference and will enjoy the recording we made! I love you all and will talk to you soon!

Get Hyped for Conference!!

Okay goedemorgen everyone!! This week was really solid and I wish I had more time to tell you all about it, but time has been cut short for this week! Needless to say our investigator is going to be baptized this Saturday and she is super prepared and excited for it! We hold the baptism interview tomorrow and she will be ready to become a member! It truly is exciting!

Well what I want to leave with you all is that I hope you take conference in, I know there are going to be talks meant for each and everyone of you, I know that we truly have Apostles and Prophets on the earth and it is an amazing blessing to have that restored on this Earth! I am super excited and I bet you all are too! So I hope you all have a great rest of your week and in the words of Dieter F. Uchtdorf " It's not a race, It's a journey. Enjoy the moment." Love you all and talk to you soon!

But I guess that is a good thing and that means we are staying pretty busy! The work is going really well for us! Our top investigator is and has been preparing for baptism and it is amazing to see the progress she has made! We are looking forward to this upcoming week and trying to find some more investigators! The work is going great and is exciting! I have the recording for this week, so I hope you all enjoy it! I love you all and will talk to you next week!
